Bart Taylor – Cyber Security Training Manager, TEEX
Dr. Bart Taylor is a seasoned Cybersecurity and Information Technology professional educator with over twenty-five years of experience in the field. Bart graduated from Texas A&M University with a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction in the department of Teaching, Learning and Culture in the College of Education, with an area of focus to include Career and Technical Education, Career and Technical Student Organizations, and Educational Technology. Additionally, Bart has a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Administration, a B.S. in Industrial Technology Education, in addition to his IT certifications such as CompTIA Network+.
Dr. Taylor offers a proven track record of commended performance in teaching, and leadership, with a passion for education and a commitment to continually pursue student, school and community success. His experience includes classroom and university teaching, motivational speaking, district curriculum and instructional coaching, professional development planning/presenting, non-profit mobilization, school district administration and cybersecurity program management. From advanced web design to the fundamentals of computer hardware / networking, to CompTIA Security+, and to graduate research fundamentals, Dr. Taylor has a variety of expertise to share.
Sam Swicegood – Cybersecurity Compliance Instructor, TEEX
Sam Swicegood is a seasoned technology expert with a broad spectrum of experience across information technology, leadership, software development, networking, game design, and cybersecurity. Before joining TEEX, Sam played a pivotal role in building and maintaining technological infrastructure for private- and public-sector organizations ranging from nimble startups to vast global enterprises.
His contributions at TEEX go beyond merely teaching courses—he is an active subject matter expert, driving the development and gamification of new cybersecurity training modules to keep pace with evolving threats, tactics, and strategies. Furthermore, Sam partners with enterprise clients to conduct in-depth gap assessments and lead hands-on tabletop exercises, offering strategic recommendations that enhance their overall cybersecurity defenses.
Mary Kate Howard – Enterprise Security Operations Program Manager, HP Inc.
Mary Kate has 15 years of experience in the field of Information Technology and has a Bachelor of Science in Technology Management degree from Texas A&M University. On top of her degree, she holds CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications as well as GSEC and GCED certifications from the SANS Institute. She has spent the last 11 years of her career at HP Inc starting as an IT Consultant within Global IT and working up into Data Center and Network Architecture and had the fortune to help the company transform through a company split as well as many data center migrations and network transformations in that time. It was through her work with the data center teams where her passion for Cybersecurity originated.
After partnering with Cybersecurity for many years, she finally made the transition to the Enterprise Security Operations group in HP Cybersecurity in 2023 where she has continued to lead enterprise-wide initiatives looking to continue fortifying the enterprise as a whole. She is passionate about Cybersecurity and believes it is up to everyone to champion their own destiny in the ever changing landscape in which we operate.
