Dr. Anthony Knap :: “What if the past were a poor guide to the Future?”

The climate is changing naturally with anthropogenic forcing. It is predicted that as the mean changes the extremes will as well. This talk will focus on what we know about the ocean, how we measure it and what we will need to do in the future. One focus will be what we are trying to learn from the 2017 storm Hurricane Harvey from its rapid intensification to the fact it is one of the first major storms to make landfall on the US in the longest major hurricane drought for 150 years.

Dr. Anthony Knap: Director, Texas A&M Geochemical and Environmental Research Group. Professor Department of Oceanography. James Whatley Endowed Chair of Geosciences
